From ever increasing photo-realism, complex facial animation and physics to sophisticated data center operations the interactive entertainment industry is driving this nation’s innovations. At some point, the technological innovation occurring through the sheer creative will of the interactive entertainment will require the same research efforts that every other advanced industry requires. Interestingly, there is a strong connection between video game technologies and modeling and simulation. There is a natural technical synergy. This natural technical synergy manifests as the convergent space of modeling, simulation and interactive entertainment. Redglu bridges the federal world of modeling and simulation research with the technological needs of interactive entertainment.
At the end of the 20th Century, we witnessed the convergence of natural and physical sciences. This convergence of scientific domains refers to the synergistic combination of four major provinces of science and technology, each of which is currently progressing at a rapid rate: nanoscience and nanotechnology; biotechnology and biomedicine, including genetic engineering; information technology, including advanced computing; and cognitive science.
This phenomena has significant consequences for interactive entertainment. One of Redglu's goals is to be a recognized leader in transferring federal technologies to enhance the interactive entertainment marketplace. Today, more than 250 federal laboratories, research centers and agencies participate the federal laboratory consortium. Illustrative of the agencies represented are the Central Intelligence Agency, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Interior, Health and Human Services, National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the National Science Foundation.
